UMIAQ Environmental is an SBA 8(a) subsidiary of Ukpeaġvik Inupiat Corporation (UIC), that provides a comprehensive suite of environmental permitting and consulting services with expertise in working in remote locations. We are a capable, experienced company that integrates its collective resources, skills, and experience to deliver high quality services and support.

We provide cradle to grave services related to environmental remediation investigations, stakeholder engagement, studies, land use planning, long range comprehensive planning, capital improvement program planning, engineering support, remedial designs, removal and remedial actions including landfarming, and operations and maintenance activities, studies, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, and regulatory compliance. Our team supports oil spill response plans, emergency response plans, incident management expertise, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, and permit packages for the most challenging of projects.

Our team has developed relationships and familiarity with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies that helps streamline application processing time through effective communication. Our team consistently meets and exceeds agency expectations. The experience of our permitting team provide increased insight into project permitting timelines and possible challenges that could affect project execution timelines.

UMIAQ’s staff has designed, permitted, and managed hundreds of projects. Many of our projects have required innovative solutions to provide practical functionality, while meeting environmental and logistical challenges. UMIAQ understands the importance of environmental considerations such as environmental sensitivity, water quality and wetland delineation assessments, wildlife interactions, and a wealth of other environmentally based issues, present within each project.

UMIAQ Environmental approaches projects by looking at the project life cycle versus isolated aspects and tasks. Such a holistic approach allows clients to be aware of challenges and opportunities throughout the project life cycle versus one point in time. This enables clients to be aware of and plan in advance thus affording the greatest opportunity to mitigate against identified future challenges in a cost effective and efficient way.
