UIC Oil & Gas Support is constructing a new 5,000 square foot tent storage facility on the southwest side of Utqiaġvik for the Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative (ASTAC), which provides telecommunication services to residents on the North Slope.

“We’re happy to work with ASTAC again,” said Joe Barron, Deadhorse Operations Manager for UIC Oil & Gas Support. “Last year we completed their 67-mile fiber optic cable between Atqasuk and Utqiaġvik. This project is quite a bit different, but also leverages our experience with logistics, material handling and construction.”

UIC Oil & Gas provided all-inclusive services for the tent project: procurement of materials, transportation from Deadhorse to Utqiaġvik, and construction. The project is estimated to be complete by the end of summer.

“Working together on projects like these, ASTAC and UIC continue to maintain a collaborative working relationship for the improvement and betterment of the local communities,” said Paul Fairbanks, a project manager with ASTAC.  “It’s a win, win.”
