Utqiaġvik, Alaska – May 23, 2022. The Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) and its board of directors are pleased to endorse Tara Katuk MacLean Sweeney, who is running in the upcoming special election for Alaska’s only seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Originally from Utqiaġvik, Alaska Tara is a lifelong Alaskan and understands the unique challenges and opportunities of this great state. Her proven leadership capabilities, business and government experience, and knowledge of both rural and urban Alaska set her apart from the rest of the candidates.

The special election to fill the remainder of Congressman Young’s term begins with a by-mail open primary, with ballots due Saturday, June 11. The top four vote-getters will advance to a special ranked-choice general election on Tuesday, August 16.
